It was a bad month for the Looters after a strong start. The Looters flew high in April going 13-14, but the good times quickly came to an end in a 9-20 May. That month produced no winning streaks and two separate 7 game losing streaks. The only excitement of the month was a flare of words from the Hitmen claiming Bill Maddox of throwing at heads. But leave it to the trash of Hendersonville to try to call others trash.
One of the lone bright spots was a 6 day period mid month where the Looters won 2 series vs the Rebels and Liberals and also on the same home stand split a 4 game series with Orlando. That 10 game stretch the Looters went 6-4. Outside of that the Looters were 3-15 in the month.
LF Jose Estrada keeps proving doubters wrong and continues to be the only Looter hitting over .300. Estrada is hitting 332/417/462 on the season and can play all 3 fields. He slowed a bit in May, but continues to be a force.
Speaking of forces, RF Errol Hughes continues smashing balls out of the park. He's now up to 19 homers and a 260/398/577 line on the season. He's on the leader boards in almost every power stat category plus third in the National League in walks.
On the pitching front second year starter Armando Felix is the rotation leader. Felix was converted from middle relief early last season and has blossomed more this year. He has a 4.78 ERA and a 7-4 record. He also leads the team in Ks at 52.
Next up for the Looters looms a rough road trip to Regina who are riding a 12 game win streak followed by a 4 game set vs Hendersonville who may only lose 3 more games this season. After that the Looters get to enjoy a 9 game home stand vs Jacksonville, Baffin Island, and the Frenzy. They then close out the month in Los Angeles. Already at 3-5 on the month with that schedule ahead this Looters beat writer predicts a 10-17 record by month end which would be 7-12 over the remainder of the month.
