It appears the first trade under the new stewardship of the Looters franchise has been made as Francisco Soto was seen cleaning out his locker and loading up his car.
"It's a sad day for me. I have bee a part of this franchise since the beginning of the VBL6 and now I'm on my way out the door. I understand why and that The Looters wanted to get younger. I just wish it hadn't been at my expense. Now though I get the chance to compete for a ring hopefully in Sacramento."
Reports have the Looters picking up 3 players and cash back. The Looters have been looking to cut salary a bit and pick up prospects and accomplished both with this deal. Coming to New Orleans is big league outfielder Rob Ward who will back up the outfield immediately. Also included in the deal is OF Giel Wichers who is currently at AAA and may get a callup soon and P Ed Collins who is at A level but has the makeup to be a back of the rotation starter. Also coming to the Looters is a sum of cash to offset some of Ward's salary.
Thompson said he looks forward to seeing what Ward can do with a change of scenery and what Wichers can do when called upon. Thompson thinks Wichers can be a late bloomer similar to Nelson Cruz in the more popular MLB.
