All Star Jose Cabrera Traded to Orlando

GM Scott Thompson had a long layoff due to the short hiatus the league was in, but he didn't allow that time to go wasted as he set off to acquire an upgrade at catcher. The price, his all star short stop.

Jose Cabrera, along with relievers Randy Lucas and catcher Dylan Pinney will now head to divisional rival Orlando to help their fight to regain ground on Hendersonville and into the wild card race. Meanwhile, the return for the soon to be unrestricted free agent involves a few prospects.

Jose Cabrera was the lone all star from this listless New Orleans team. He had the second highest qualifying average on the team at .266 and a OPS of .732 with 7 homers. He made $1.9M this year and is set to possibly get a raise next year after being unwilling to not test the free agent waters this winter.

Randy Lucas has been solid in middle relief for the Looters. He has a 4.62 ERA and 1.42 WHIP which have increased with a couple bad outings recently, but his age of 32 made him expendable. He's still signed for a small $400k salary this season, but was likely looking for a handsome increase next year.

Dylan Pinney was the starting catcher by default in New Orleans, but at 32, his best years were behind him. He was hitting .254 with 10 homers and a .809 OPS which made him a decent offensive weapon, but nothing great to write home about. His salary though was $3.2M with free agency rights in the offseason and didn't play into the long term future of the Looters.

The return you ask. Well, getting a catcher of the future was one priority and coming to New Orleans is Phil Boone. Boone is 25 years old and is decent with the glove behind the plate. He projects to have power potential though. Currently hitting around the Mendoza line at the VBL6 level he'll get time to work out his kinks.

Also coming are LF Chris Worley who has some pop but questions with the bat as well as 3B Jesus Vidro who plays great defense on the corners, but hasn't put it all together.
