The Looters organization gave it much thought with such an opportune chance to turn around a dismal franchise, but after much deliberation and many players considered, GM Scott Thompson finally arrived at a decision of who he would select first overall.
That pick goes to RF Arturo Rodriguez out of the Maris School. Rodriguez had a spectacular year as a senior in high school with a 426/505/735 slash line posting a godly 200 OPS+ and 40.4 VORP in just 40 games. In 162 at bats he had 10 doubles, 2 triples, and 12 homers averaging just under 2 hits per game. He also had a hit streak of 24 games that was broken late in the year. Rodriguez will demand a hefty draft bonus, but is eager to put on a Looters uniform and be a part of the transformation of this franchise.
Rodriguez stated, "I'm beyond ecstatic and honored to be the first overall pick of the draft. The Looters organization could have taken anyone with this pick and had plenty to pick from, but they chose me. I can't say how honored I am. I'll do everything I can to prove the Looters correct in this decision and will put in the effort getting there early and staying late to prove the GM correct in this opportunity he has given to me."
Said GM Thompson, "Rodriguez looks to be a once in a lifetime talent. I would typically look for a pitcher here, but I subscribe to the best player possible philosophy. You can't always predict what your team will need 3 years from now, so it's foolish to draft like you will. A lot of credit on the scouting of Rodriguez goes to my lead scout Rafael Martinez. I trust his abilities as he's among the best at looking for amateurs. If he says this player has "practically no flaws" then I will believe him. He sees this kid as a future hall of famer, and I'll give him every chance to be one."
The Looters look forward to tonight's sim results to see who else will be joining this organization for the upswing in competitiveness.
