Looters Offense Cranked Up to 11

The Looters offense didn't have a bad April, but it wasn't nearly the dominant offense that many pundits had expected coming into the season.  Many had said their offense could rival some of the better offenses we've seen in this league and could become only the third NL team to score more than 900 runs in a season and only 1 in the post-sim era, the 2012 Boston Rebels with 925.  Currently this offense is on pace for just less than that with 285 runs so far in 50 games projecting to 923 runs.

In May though the Looters offense has been cranking along with crazy stats.  5 out of 9 regular starters are hitting over .300 on the month including RF Errol Hughes (.315), CF Alex Herrejon (.345), 1B Tony Marin (.310), 3B Ramon Hernandez (.308), 2B Jaime Manuel (.320).  In addition, 3 other starters are hitting in the .280-.290 range including SS John Brown (.290), LF Porter Sanford (.281), and 1B Luis Alou (.286).  The only starter not included in C Sandro Cajani hitting a despicable .276 on the month.

The bash triplets are hitting balls all over the place with Errol Hughes (7 HR), Tony Marin (6), and Ramon Hernandez (5) hitting homers with frequency in the month.   Rookies have played a large part in the lineup as well with Ramon Hernandez making a huge case for NL Rookie of the Year this year with a .338/.399/.596 line on the season and 8 homers.  He's already posted a 2.0 WAR and 16.8 VORP with just less than 2 months of play.  He's also struck out very little with 16 Ks in 136 ABs (Missed just over a week with a day to day injury).  Porter "Super Pippo" Sanford has also been a nice surprise.  Taken in the rule 5 draft from the El Paso Diablos, he's hit .263/.312/.419 as a green rookie who wasn't expecting big league action this year.  He started a bit slow in April, but as seen above, he's turned it up this month and has hopefully found his groove to contribute all season, even after CF Jose Estrada returns off the DL soon.

As mentioned, this offensive explosion has been without one of it's other key cogs.  Jose Estrada has been out with a torn posterior cruciate ligament since August 2013.  Prior to that injury, he was hitting .302/.390/.428 while playing great center field defense.  He's still just 26 and has a lot of time ahead of him.  He's likely to go on a rehab assignment for a short period, but the Looters are looking forward to a return to CF of Estrada with Peter Sanford or Alex Herrejon likely becoming a super 4th outfielder.
