NEW ORLEANS WINS A GAME! NEXT THE PENNANT!

Woah woah woah.  Let's not get ahead of ourselves.  It was just one win, but thankfully it was at home for the fans that had suffered.  The Looters are now 1-16 since new management has taken over and with any luck may win another few games before this season is over.

May 1, 2012, Looters 3, Hitmen 6
W - Hill (6-0), L - Maddox (2-3), S - Griffin (12)
This is a game that could have been much different if starter Bill Maddox hadn't left the game with a blister after 2 innings on the mound.  In the first two innings Maddox had given up 2 runs on 4 hits with both runs being solo shots.  However, when long reliever John Stewart came into the game, he must have poured gasoline all the way from the bullpen to the mound, because he lit fire to a game that assured the Hitmen a win giving up 4 runs while just getting 2 outs and being taken deep twice in 24 pitches.  Mercifully he was lifted in the 3rd and Castillo was brought in to calm things down with 3 shutout innings, but with Scott Hill on the opposite mound, a 6 run cushion is more than he needs.  Hill had one of his worst starts of the season giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, but it was more than enough for the win.  Love and Crowley had the Looters homers in an otherwise uneventful game.

May 2, 2012, Looters 2, Hitmen 6
W - Ellis (4-1), L - Felix (1-1), S - Smith (1)
The Looters stayed much more competitive this game than the previous game.  Recently converted reliever Armando Felix had his second good start since conversion going 6.2 innings giving up 3 runs on 8 hits with 5 strikeouts.  The story of this game is the Hitmen having a 3 run inning in the 8th to put this game out of reach after an error by Jaime Manuel later led to a 3 run homer Anastascio Lopez.  C Dylan Pinney contributed the Looters full scoring output with a 2 run homer in the 6th to briefly give the Looters a 2-1 lead before giving up a 2 spot in the bottom of the 6th.

May 3, 2012, 84ers 5,  Looters 2
W - Meyer (2-2), L - Rose (1-3), S - Jijon (6)
Rose battled on the mound for the Looters.  Battled the 84ers, battled his command, and ultimately lost the battle on all fronts.  Rose was touched for 5 runs over 6 innings, including a 3 run second, and gave the 84ers all the runs they needed to cruise until the end.  The Looters picked up runs in the 5th and 8th, but would have needed until the 15th to try to fight back with only 6 hits in the game.  Waiver wire claim Chris Woodruff pitched 2 hitless innings to finish out the game.  Errol Hughes had a solo shot for the Looters listless offense.

May 4, 2012, 84ers 1, Looters 5
W - Woodruff (1-1), L - Crowder (1-3)
THE LOOTERS ACTUALLY WON A GAME!  The Looters offense exploded for a 5 run 6th and held on to that lead only allowing an 8th inning run.  The only slight bit of bad news out of the game is that the Looters lost their starting pitcher Pedro Oliveira in the 5th to a sore ankle who is day to day til his next start.  Oliveira had pitched 4.1 innings of scoreless 2 hit ball before having to relinquish the game to waiver wire pickup Chris Woodruff.  Woodruff once again pitched well with 1.2 perfect innings and was in the game for the Looters offensive explosion.  Cameron Rowde and Alejandro Castillo pitched 3 scoreless innings to wrap things up.  For the offense, the big story was the 6th inning.  Three singles and a walk led up to the pivotal at bat with Jesus Soto with bases loaded who hit a 0-2 pitch 391 feet for a GRAND SLAM!  Cisco Ruiz also hit a runner in to score earlier in the inning with a RBI single.

May 5, 2012, 84ers 5, Looters 1
W - Eager (3-2), L - Quintana (1-2), S - Tovar (1)
A day after their best day since moving to New Orleans, the Looters returned to their ways with another loss. Greenville touched Looters starter Pablo Quintana for 2 runs each in the 3rd & 4th innings.  In total Quintana went 6.1 innings giving up 8 hits and 4 runs which wasn't awful.  The main story was just that the Looters weren't able to put together any consistent hitting.  3 hitters each went 2 for 4 in the game, but none could drive each other home.  The team only had 1 extra base hit in the game coming on a RBI double by CF Francisco Soto.
